At Home Workouts

How many of you have tried at-home workouts? Or perhaps considered working out at home, but didn't know how to even get started? At-home workouts are AWESOME, especially if you don't have a gym membership, limited access to childcare, or simply just want to do something active spontaneously.. at home, at the park, or shoot.. at the beach (it IS summer now right!?) Don't know how to get started? Here are a few tips to get you moving :)

Here are a couple KEY notes for you when working out from home!

*First, Pick a Workout*  There are many resources for at-home workouts these days! First, chose what you feel like working: legs, upper body, core, full body, or perhaps its a day for yoga or pilates! Next, you can look to On-Demand workouts on TV, follow along a You-tube workout video, or even write down exercises you've seen on other IG pages and create your own. Still need help? I offer an online Bikini Bod Squad 8-week program, 3 videos a week that you can sweat along to!!

*Prepare to have all the equipment needed beforehand* (mat, dumbbells, medicine balls, jump rope, towel, chair, etc.) This may seem like a given, but I know I can't be the only one that finally gets my mind right to do an at-home workout and if I don't have all the right equipment, suddenly lose all motivation. And it goes the other way too, if you are prepared with all the essential tools needed, you'll be ready to bust it out!!

*MUSIC* You'll be so much more pumped if you have a good beat to push you! Right now I'm really feeling 'These Days' by Rudimental (feat. Jess Glynne, Macklemore & Dan Caplen) & 'Feels Great' by Cheat Codes (Feat. Fetty Wap & CVBZ) There are also really great apps like Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, etc. that have pre-loaded playlists according to your mood. Plus, a lot of times they offer a free 30-day trial so you can see if you like the app before having to purchase it :)

*Accountability Buddy or trainer to check in with* Studies show that we are much more successful in life when we have people around us lifting us up along the way. That goes for your fitness journey too. Get a friend to make goals with, who may even join you for a workout of two, or at least text you to make sure you didn't skip out on a workout and get happy hour instead ;) Shoot maybe even incorporate your littles into your workout for extra intensity.. and FUN! *Most importantly...make sure you know your form is correct* Sometimes it's hard to know if your form is correct or not, but if you are getting sore knees after leg day, lower back pain after core day, or shoulder pain from upper body day.. it most likely is due to improper form. I provided a "Safety Video" link below that I send to all my clients who take my online program before getting started so that you can check your own form to see if there are some exercises you may need to adjust! In some cases, improper form can be due to tight muscles that need to be lengthened to allow accurate range of motion. In these cases exercises may need to be modified until these muscles can perform the exercise without overcompensating. If this is you, and you need modifications, contact me, I'd love to help!
